The issues during progressiveism
During the progressive era there were many issues.
One issue was big business the government tryed to limit monopolies,
get a 8 hour work day, minimum wage, safer working conditions
and childlabor restrictions. Another was political rights. They tryed
to get election reforms. They tryed to make government more
responsicve to the people. Last was social justice which was going
to work on less poverty and apply science and technology to solve
socail problems. Then in 1913 there was a fire that killed 140 people.
Most of them were woemen and children. This fire was called the Triangle
Shirt waist fire. This was a turing point for the reform and after the fire
New York State passed the toughest fire safety laws in the nation.
